Cory Gunderson is executive vice president of global solutions at Protiviti. He oversees and coordinates the firm’s range of consulting practices, including internal audit and financial advisory, digital transformation, technology consulting, risk and compliance, business performance improvement, managed business services, and data management and advanced analytics. Gunderson works with the firm’s solutions leadership team to continue to advance and develop Protiviti’s delivery capabilities to help clients solve increasingly complex challenges. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing the firm’s innovation investments.
Gunderson has been with Protiviti since its inception in 2002. He previously served as the firm’s global financial services industry leader and prior to that in progressive solution leadership roles culminating as the leader of Protiviti’s global risk and compliance practice. With more than 25 years of experience advising clients, Gunderson’s expertise is focused primarily on the risk management and compliance spectrum, with a specific focus on banks, insurance companies, specialty finance, and other financial institutions. He has served as the global account executive for several of Protiviti’s most significant client relationships throughout his career.
In 2009, Gunderson was recognized by Consulting magazine as one of its Top 25 Consultants for Excellence in Financial Services. He holds an MBA in finance/marketing from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from DePaul University. He is a CPA (inactive) and a member of The Institute of Internal Auditors. Gunderson is based in Protiviti’s Chicago office. He serves on the advisory board for DePaul University’s Arditti Center for Risk Management and on the board of trustees of the Museum of American Finance in New York City.
