Monica Caldas is the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she is responsible for the technology roadmap and driving alignment around the company’s investments in data and technology across the company’s three business units. In her role, she is a strategic partner to the CIO and business leadership teams, working to harness the power of data and technology to maximize capabilities and help the company differentiate.
Monica joined Liberty Mutual in 2018 after a 17-year career at General Electric where she held senior executive CIO roles across several GE businesses covering multiple lines of business including Capital Rail Services, Capital Fleet Services and Transportation. In those roles, she focused on areas such as IT Operations, Software Development, ERP management and global roll outs, systems integrations, and organizational effectiveness.
Monica has been recognized across the industry, including being named a Top 2016 Leader by Hispanic Executive magazine, Information Age Magazine’s Digital Leader of the Year 2018, the 2020 Boston CIO of the Year "Super Global" ORBIE Award winner, ISG’s (Information Services Group) 2022 Women in Digital “Digital Titan Award” and has been named included on HITEC Leaders 100 list as one of the most influential Hispanic leaders in technology for the last two consecutive years.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in business and management information systems from the University of Connecticut, and a Master of Business degree from Pennsylvania State University.
Outside of Liberty Mutual, Monica enjoys working in the community to encourage and inspire more girls to pursue STEM roles, is an active member in Hispanic Affinity networks and is a student of mindfulness and meditation. She lives in Boston with her husband, two young children and their very curious rescue dog.
